My first time on radio! @RNorthumberland @listenupnorth #WW1

Today was the very first time any of my work had aired on radio, thanks to Rachel Cochrane of @listenupnorth who recorded my poem ‘Voice of the Sam Browne Belt’ following a WW1 writing workshop at the Durham Light Infantry Museum earlier in the summer. The hour long programme featured music from the era as well as several readings which Rachel had recorded. I was delighted that my poem had been chosen among other great pieces of poetry and short stories.

For those that missed it, there is another chance to listen in on Thursday at 7pm. Just follow the link http://www.radionorthumberland.com/index.php/live-feed and enjoy.

Poetry at the Preview Evening

I had a great evening yesterday at the Durham Light Infantry Museum taking part in the preview evening for the exhibition Always Remember, Never Forget. I was there with others to read my poem which came out of the writing workshops led by Rachel Cochrane. Four of us read our work, including Rachel. The audio of her own writing about two artefacts from the museum’s World War One collection is part of the exhibition, along with art work, other writing and video.

Always Remember Never Forget preview @ dli museumThe exhibition runs from 7th – 22nd June and well worth a visit.
